MID CITY TAILORING
est. 1959 Sam Meyer, a holocaust survivor, founded Mid City Tailoring in 1959. In the mid 80's Sam took under his wing Oscar Lopez, an immigrant master tailor from Santiago, Chile. The two worked diligently on providing the best tailoring services to hundreds of clothiers all across Manhattan. Sam had eventually retired leaving Oscar the sole proprietor. After nearly 3 decades in successful operation, Oscar handed down the corporation to his granddaughter Atheena Pimentel. Atheena worked to shift the focus of services offered not just to companies but direct to consumer. Establishing one of the very few same day expert tailors in midtown Manhattan. |
DENIM SURGEON
est. 2008 Kattya Torres, the daughter of master tailor Oscar Lopez, founded Denim Surgeon, when in search of maternity jeans—or lack there of- she started making her own with her existing jeans and offering her services to others. What started as a cost effective solution for mothers seeking maternity jeans like herself, turned into a focus on the up and coming market of denim. Jeans, first considered to be working clothes, have shifted into almost all luxury labels and they’re available at both ends of the price spectrum, in a multitude of styles. With so much detail that goes into the construction of jeans, it's no wonder that Kattya, the Denim Surgeon, has become one of the most sought after denim alteration specialists of New York City. |
DENIM THERAPY
est. 2006 Francine Rabinovich founded Denim Therapy in 2006. Inspired by her inability to part with a tattered eight-year-old pair of her own, the former advertising executive created Denim Therapy in 2008, collecting jean shipments from the U.S. and Europe and drop-offs from the New York area. In 2018, Denim Therapy was bought out by Kattya Torres and merged with Denim Surgeon to become the one stop shop for denim tailoring and repairing experts. While Denim Surgeon maintains its focus on a more intimate hands on approach to tailoring jeans with personal fittings, Denim Therapy retains its far-reaching virtual online presence as the number one denim repair specialists to provide its services to those who cannot make it to us. |
